The RUFC Advanced Development ACADEMY is a one day a week (Friday night) soccer skill development program for U8-U18 girls & boys (2018-2008) that are currrent RUFC Advanced Development Program players or non-RUFC players at BCSPL, Metro, Division 1 or Division 2 skill level. The program is for keen soccer players looking to develop their skills outside of their team practices.

As a Canada Soccer Quality Soccer Provider, all programming aligns with the CSA Long Term Player Development (LTPD) model. Players will be grouped with an emphasis on extending and supporting the player's stage of development and overall skill development program using the Four Corner Approach.

The Advanced Development Academy is led by RUFC Technical Director, David Thorburn and Player Development Manager, Scott Guy.

The Four Corner approach places the player at the center of the development process, with soccer experiences that meet the four key needs of the player.

Sample of programming covered through the year:

• Individual attacking and defending.
• Small group attacking and defending.
• Patterns of play.
• Game related activities that incorporate all aspects of the game with the ball.
• Finishing involving a range of passing and player movement.
• Flexibility exercises that include the very latest speed exercises ABC’s (Agility, balance, Coordination, Speed).
• Player awareness (Game Literacy) involving team shape, from defence to attack.
• Individual development focusing on players.
• Pre, during and post training and game diet and nutrition handouts.
• Player feedback on individual performance evaluation in training and games, with structured action plans for future development.

SCHEDULE:

Fridays: September 12, 2025 to February 27, 2026 (21 sessions)

No sessions on October 31, December 19 & 26, January 2 .

5:30pm-6:30pm

Boyd Soccer Complex - Francis Road & #1 Road, Richmond, BC.

Fee: $340

All players receive a RUFC Academy Kit.

Refunds subject to a $50 administration fee are provided up to September 11, 2025. No refunds are provided after the program starts.
